You are not the only one, the Seamless Coop Elden Ring mod isn’t working right now after the game’s recent update to version 1.12. Here’s what happened, don’t worry, there is a workaround to fix it!

The game developers released a big update (version 1.12) that changed how the game works. However, this update caused problems for mods like Seamless Coop because they rely on specific parts of the game’s code to function. When the game updates, these parts can break, making the mod stop working properly.

Right now, if you try to use Seamless Coop, it won’t sync correctly with the game. Players might experience crashes or find that the mod simply doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do anymore. This means you can’t use the mod to play multiplayer like before, especially with the new Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

However, just recently, a massive Elden Ring DLC leak revealed the final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree. Busy days for Elden Ring developers.

The mod’s developer, LukeYui, has acknowledged the issue. He explained that fixing the mod will take a lot of work because it basically needs to be rebuilt from scratch to match the updated game. LukeYui is working on it, but it might take some time because he’s doing it alone and wants to get it right.

Thank you for your patience – Please understand that I cannot make any predictions on how long it will take for the mod to be updated to be compatible with the DLC when it comes out.

There’s no exact date for when the mod will be fixed, but LukeYui is aiming to make it work with the new DLC. When the updated mod is ready, it might also come with improvements and fixes based on feedback from players.

For now, players who enjoy multiplayer with mods like Seamless Coop are encouraged to be patient. They can also look for other mods to try or keep an eye out for updates from LukeYui and the modding community. Or you can take action to make everything the same as before.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to do so, but please proceed with caution as these steps involve modifying game files and can potentially cause issues if not done correctly:

  • Backup your save files: Navigate to %APPDATA%\EldenRing and make copies of both ER0000.sl2 (vanilla) and ER0000.co2 (seamless) save files. This ensures you have a backup of your current progress.
  • Backup EasyAntiCheat folder: In your Elden Ring game directory, locate the “EasyAntiCheat” folder and make a backup of it. This folder is crucial for game integrity.
  • Set Steam to manual updates: Right-click Elden Ring in your Steam library, select “Properties,” go to the “Updates” tab, and set the game to “Only update this game when I launch it.” This prevents automatic updates.
  • Access Steam console: Access the Steam Console.
  • Execute commands: In the Steam Console, enter the following commands one by one:
    • @AllowSkipGameUpdate 1
    • download_depot 1245620 1245624 4173907165901381087
    • download_depot 1245620 1245621 4586391483365949586

These commands initiate the download of the older version of Elden Ring (1.10.1). Wait for the downloads to complete; this may take some time.

  • Move downloaded files: Once downloaded, locate the downloaded files in Steam\steamapps\content\app_1245620\depot_1245624\ and Steam\steamapps\content\app_1245620\depot_1245621\. Move these files to your Elden Ring game folder, overwriting the existing files. This downgrades your game to version 1.10.1.
  • Handling save errors: If you encounter a corrupted save error upon launching the game, run the game through Mod Engine 2 with all mods disabled first. This helps port your base game saves over. Then, run the game again with only Seamless Co-op enabled to port your co-op saves over to version 1.10.1. Use the provided update_saves.bat script if using Unalloyed for this step.
  • Re-Update (Optional):
    • When you want to update back to the latest version, restore your backed-up EasyAntiCheat folder and save data.
    • Right-click Elden Ring in Steam, go to “Properties,” then “Local Files,” and choose “Verify Integrity of game files” to ensure everything is correct.
    • Launch the game from Steam to restore your save data and verify that the game works properly with the latest update.

These steps should allow you to continue using mods compatible with Elden Ring version 1.10.1. Be sure to follow each step carefully and back up your data to avoid any potential loss or issues during the process.
