Guess What? Seekyt members now have the ability to track the traffic on their posts with Google Analytics. If you are already familiar with Google Analytics, simply go to your Seekyt account, click "Edit Profile" on the left side of the page, and enter your Google Analytics Web Property ID for an Analytics profile you created for Seekyt. It should look like UA-123456-1, and requires two dashes (-). The ID with only one dash will not track any data!
In case you are less than familiar with using this service, here is a step by step guide for getting started with Analytics at Seekyt.
Step 1
First, if you don't already have an account, you can register for a free Google Analytics account by clicking on this link.
Once you are at the Analytics homepage, sign in using your Google account. If you don't have a Google account, you can also get one for free by clicking the button on the Analytics homepage.

Step 2
After you are signed in, you will want to either click on "Add Website Profile" or you may be immediately prompted to enter information for a site you want to track.

Step 3
Next, you will want to fill in the data, similar to what is on the image below. Make sure you choose to "Add a profile for a new domain." For the URL of the site you'd like to track, just enter the url of ANY of your Seekyt articles.

Step 4
After you click on the finish button, you will be taken to a screen with your tracking code and information. In the following screen shot, you will see where I am highlighting the Analytics ID. If you don't get this screen, and are only receiving the code screen, just look for your Analytics ID, which starts with UA and is followed by a series of numbers with two dashes. It will say "Tracking Not Installed." Don't worry - it will function normally as soon as you complete the process.

Step 5
Copy and paste this "Web Property ID" into the appropriate field in your Seekyt account by clicking on "Edit Profile" on the left hand side of your account page. Finally, click the Update button, and all of your posts will begin to be tracked by Google Analytics!

Why Use Analytics?
There are many things that Analytics is useful for. You can track which pages get the most traffic, where visitors are coming from, what keywords people use to find your Seekyt pages, and you can even link your AdSense account with Analytics and see what pages your ads are clicked on. Analytics is useful for making decisions that will help you make more money at Seekyt, and help you get more traffic to every article you write.
That about wraps up this tutorial! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks for letting us know that Track Your Seekyt Traffic With Google Analytics now!
However, you will not be able to track pages outside of your own, which means your Referral's pages won't be tracked - which means you technically won't be able to see ALL of your potential AdSense clicks. But I thought Analytics was a nice feature to build, and it took me a few days to do it, so I hope everyone finds it useful.
I was originally building a traffic counter that people could log in and view with their Seekyt accounts, which tracked in real time, but I think that people trust analytics the most so I decided to use it instead :).
Not to mention, someone could have voted for your post on the list page without actually reading the content. That could be a reason that there were no views. You'll see traffic increase on your content over time - especially anything you link to and get traffic to from other sites. Articles are the best example, because once Google picks them up out of the sitemap and decides how to index them and where to place them, you'll normally see a gradual increase in page traffic as your rating increases - or a decrease if other sites start to beat your content in the rankings.
I'm going to write an article here about Analytics tips very soon for those who aren't sure how to use all the features.
It's also a really good idea to set up an Adsense channel for Seekyt, if you haven't already. That is a better way of telling whether or not you have traffic, I think. You can also set channels for specific Seekyt articles or bookmarks. You can also see how much you earn with the channel.
I wish we could make more channels because I ran out of them a long time ago! :( Now, I just make channels for the website and not the article, unless I want to track the specific article for some reason.
It looks like we just earn impressions when we refer users. Not very impressive because you can hardly make any money at all off of impressions.
Lets say you make a website with adsense on it and visitors watch a 10 minute movie every day or something. Might that be enough to earn about 25 cents from impressions?
Other websites which attempt to deceive users violate the AdSense TOS. For instance, if a site says they are 100% revenue sharing, but offer 10% for referrals, then it's not really 100% revenue sharing.
You can make a lot of money from referrals. If your referrals' articles are viewed 100 times a day, your ads will be on them 25 times. That means a 1/4 chance of receiving money every time an ad is clicked on your referrals' content. If you have dozens of referrals who each write a lot of great content, you can really make a lot of money with the referral program.
I'm not sure what else you mean. There is no referral program online amongst paid-to-write sites that is more effective or genuinely generous than Seekyt's referral program (that I'm aware of).
Any referral program is going to be dependent upon traffic. If you get 50 referrals and they don't use the site...no money. An impression is when ads show up...isn't that the ONLY way to earn when you are using an ad based revenue share site?
You have to bring traffic. No traffic = no impressions = no ads = no potential earnings (for anyone). As Seekyt grows the traffic will, too.
The problem with that is you don't have the tracking code running on the profile page (you probably should). I ended up having to use one of my post pages in order to get rid of the "tracking is not installed" message.
Is there a reason the tracking doesn't appear on the profile page?
Sorry for the misinformation! I'll definitely change the tutorial to reflect this.
already got a couple page views that wasn't me. :)
I'm having a technical difficulty with Analytics. Although it's tracking and showing data for some things (traffic, keywords, etc.), under the Content-->Adsense tab it shows ZERO Ad Impressions, 0 Adsense Revenue, and 0 Adsense Unit Impressions.
I have double-checked my Analytics # and gone through the linking process. Granted my stats are not high yet but I do have views. What does it mean when everything under the Adsense tab is ZERO?
From Analytics: An AdSense page impression occurs whenever a visitor to your website sees a page with AdSense for content ad units. Regardless of the number of AdSense ad units on the page, one page impression will register for that webpage.
Help?
Next to your Analytics profile for Seekyt on the main Analytics page, click "Edit" and then you will see a box that says "Main Website Profile Information." In that box, you will see "AdSense Data" and it will say either "Receiving AdSense Data" or "Not Receiving AdSense Data." If it's not receiving AdSense data, click "Edit" at the top right corner of that box and allow AdSense data for Seekyt to be shown.
If this does not work, it is possible that you are receiving pageviews that aren't showing your AdSense impressions, i.e. your pageviews are showing my AdSense impressions instead. This would occur if you were the only one viewing your posts - but it's highly unlikely.
Just so you know, you can check the "page source" of any of your articles when you're not logged in to see which AdSense ads are showing on your page, just to be sure that I'm not stealing pageviews, and on average, your ads should show on your own pages 7 out of 10 times, or 70 out of 100 times. Not that you're accusing me of doing that, but I want everyone to know that I'm trying my best to be totally honest and transparent about everything that happens here at Seekyt.
I just don't know why it's not showing the Adsense info when it's showing the other things. Usually that means I did something wrong somewhere.
My tracking says it's tracking. Now, I did put "www.seekyt.com" and not an article for the site. That's how other sites are set up (Hubpages, InfoBarrel).
But, reading your instructions again I see it says enter a post. I am getting views, keywords, etc. listed just for my articles, but it's just not listing anything under the "Adsense" tab.
I looked at the page source code and there are 2 Analytics tracking codes listed. Mine in listed as "second tracker" and shows up under the other Analytics code before the /head area.
Should I edit the profile on Analytics and put in one of my posts?
Now, I'm assuming that you ARE earning with AdSense, but there is just a problem with Analytics getting the data. I'm not quite sure what the reason is, but I'll be interested to know whether other users are having the same issue, because I'm stumped at this point.
I'll create a journal and we'll see if anyone else is having the same issue.
It could be a problem with putting "www.seekyt.com," but it seems weird to me that this would be the case. We don't use the "www" in our URLs, but I think Google would be smart enough to know the difference. It's always worth a try, if nothing else - but maybe since your AdSense is not actually installed on the home page, you should change the profile to your own article and just see whether or not it works (it might take up to 24 hours to get the data).
The weird thing is that it's only Adsense data that's not showing up, so it IS tracking...just not clicking with the Adsense.
As far as earnings go they are not much at all, but that is my own fault for lack of content. But, I have earned a few different times.
I also made a URL channel for Seekyt and it's only through there that I know I have earned. I always make a URL channel for a site.
My understanding is that even if I'd not earned anything at all Analytics should show something. At least that's how I interpret "An AdSense page impression occurs whenever a visitor to your website sees a page with AdSense for content ad units."
Since it's all ZERO for the Adsense tab I'm assuming it's just not tracking. Sometimes people forget to link the Adsense and Analytics accounts, but I've done this a few times. I'll tinker with it and report back!
Thanks for your help!
Jasmine wrote a better tutorial than I did: http://seekyt.com/tracking-your-seekyt-stats-with-google-analytics/
You should use "http://seekyt.com" as the website URL. If you already use Analytics, you will need to create a separate web property to enjoy all of the stats that Analytics will track for Seekyt, such as AdSense.
Once you have set it up, just come to Seekyt, click on "Edit Profile" in your account, and insert your tracking ID.
