Increase Article Traffic and Earn More

Make more money publishing content at Seekyt

There are many online publication websites that offer freelance writers the opportunity to share their knowledge.  In return these writers earn from a revenue sharing program.   The articles are written from what the writer knows and from research.  All articles are written to teach their audience a certain task or to enlighten them on a product.  They then publish and hope that the article is a winner.  All freelance writers goal is to earn $100.00 per article monthly.  It is an attainable goal; however these earnings will not occur overnight.  Their content royalties will accumulate over time; if their content appeals to the masses then the writer’s goal will become a reality.  If you are interested in learning how to increase your article traffic then here are some tips.

Keywords

Share your knowledge by choosing a topic that you are familiar with.  The topic is the keyword or phrase that will optimize your article in the search engines.   To earn more you would choose words that visitors search for.  Select the topic for your article and then write your article around the keyword.  For instance I am a garden designer and thus I am skilled in growing and designing gardens, a garden article would be well suited for my topic and gardening appeals to the masses.

Images

Images will enhance your article and will help you to gain more traffic.  Many Images are indexed in Google image finder and thus when the viewer searches for an image they may view the image from your article and thus when they click onto the image the viewer will be rerouted to your article.

Sharing

As soon as your publish share your content.  Get into the habit of sharing immediately on twitter, facebook, digg, Stumbled Upon, SheToldMe and IMAutomator.   By sharing your articles you will increase your traffic and your potential to earn more.

Cross Promote

Build a strong following of friends and cross promote your content.  Look for their new articles and support them by reading and commenting and then share on twitter.  Your friends will then reciprocate and do the same for you.  This is an excellent way to increase your traffic and to keep your content fresh.

Backlink Content

Increase your content traffic by backlinking to other articles and blogs that are related. Comment on blogs and use the open URL. Sign with your name or keyword and add a related URL by doing this you will make more money.

Another way to backlink your content is to participate on forums or join a website that is primarily questions; Yahoo answers or Life123 are two websites that welcome backlinks.  Look for a question that relates to your article topic and then answer with text and use your link as your resource.

Set Monthly Goals

Set publishing goals at the beginning of the month.  Achieve the goal by getting other writers to set a publishing goal also.  Communicate with your friends to keep them motivated.   Make writing fun by choosing the topic of the week.  For an example you could choose timely articles and then you would write about worldly events, celebrities, seasonal activates or upcoming holidays.  By doing this you will be motivated to reach your monthly goal. Build a library that is appealing to the masses and your traffic will increase and you will earn more.

Tips:

  • Look over your articles and check for for typos, grammar and word flow or use an online grammar checker to proofread your articles before publishing.  This will enable you to publish high quality content.
  • Share your knowledge and your ideas with the world by publishing articles at Seekyt.
  • Research education search for your topic and write a high quality article using your own words.  Give proper reference under resource.

I agree with most of the principles, but would like to add: unfortunately, it's not always possible to write about what you like or know best if you want to monetize your articles - choosing a topic or the right keywords is based on their value in terms of money. Images have to be optimized too for better indexing! Cross promotion is great but it has to be implemented in a smart way.

I noticed that using the sites you mentioned above doesn't really get me much traffic. More than 80% of my traffic is organic (coming from search engines).

Also, I set goals in my head every month (well, maybe even every day) but it seems I'm having difficulties reaching them lol
Also, I edit my content all the time!
Have to check that IMAutomator, too...

Just an addition to "word flow"- have your paragraphs follow each other in a logical order. In other words, don't have elements of your conclusion in a paragraph before the conclusion, make sure the material for a conclusion comes first, and that the 5th paragraph "flows" to the 6th. Good article.

Jasmine: I have shared my Google analytics on this content to show my audience that your direct and referral traffic is a useful way to increase article views. In my particular case the referral traffic is greater than organic. I believe that one must promote their content by sharing and backlinking in order to gain a strong audience. This article was written based on my experience only I did not research for information for this content. I stopped relying on organic traffic long ago. I believe that the secret to successful content, is to backlink.

@Sgolis: I agree with you about backlinking and I think that the combination of both organic and referral traffic is jackpot (search engines and referrals through backlinks). All strategies don't have to work equally for everybody, but I like trying them all. Articles such as this one are very valuable because we learn about another real experience in the virtual world of article writing and making money - every information is more than welcome.
Thanks for sharing your experience - it's valuable to me and to others, I'm sure :)

Jasmine: I added the link to Search edu.com. It is an excellent and reliable resource for information. All you do is add your keyword to the search box and you will be rerouted to edu or org articles.

I agree backlinking is important. Yes it is time consuming, but in the long run I think it helps dramatically...When I don't backlink I notice my earnings go down. Good information...

Lots of good information for writers and bloggers. StumbleUpon and Twitter are my first places to share a new article.
