How to Make Strawberries Dipped in White Chocolate

Its strawberry season and ours are looking so good. At our daughter's wedding, they had chocolate dipped strawberries but by the time the bridal party and parents got there, the chocolate dipped strawberries were gone. Not to let that stop me from ever tasting this good treat I decided to make my own, I am using my strawberries any way I can while they are fresh. I'll show you how I made my strawberries dipped in white chocolate.

Things you'll need:

  • Fresh Strawberries
  • Paper towel
  • 1-12 oz package white chocolate chips or almond bark
  • 1 tbsp shortening, as per chocolate package
  • Wax paper
  • Skewer to dip strawberry with
  1. Pick strawberries hopefully from your own strawberry patch so you know they are organic. However, if you have to purchase them from the stores, at least try to buy ones that not sprayed with chemicals.
  2. Wash the berries good, even our organic ones have sand and dirt on them and are washed well in cold water.
  3. Lay the washed berries on a paper towel to remove the excess water. Let them dry completely as the water ruins with the consistency of the chocolate.
  4. Find something to put into the center of the strawberry so you can dip it. I found that the strawberries that still had the stem on and the skewer were the easiest ones to dip in the white chocolate.
  5. Melt your white chocolate. I purchased almond bark with vanilla in it; it is for dipping fruit or pretzels. You can melt in the microwave or on the stovetop.
  6. Dip your strawberry in the white chocolate and maybe swirl it around to make sure it is covered.
  7. Shake the excess white chocolate off the strawberry and put them on wax paper to set up
  8. Now that you have dipped the strawberries in the white chocolate, let them set up, kick back and enjoy them. I really loved them. Mine are not as pretty but still taste good; I am not sure why I had not tried them before.

Tips:

  • You might have to thin your white chocolate or chocolate chips, you should use solid shortening.

  • Do not over heat the chocolate; it will dry out instead of melting

Angelgirlpj, the "good-bad" thing about your sweet desert recipes is that they are so easy to make (good), but if I try them all, I'll gain 100 pounds (bad) :-). I can always substitute stevia for sugar, and you do have a lot of low cal recipes. I've been bookmarking them so I'll have a nice selection to choose from.

Never heard of almond bark before.
