Author and former Miss California Carrie Prejean and Oakland Raiders quarterback husband Kyle Boller are now the parents of an eight-pound baby girl, according to the San Diego Union Tribune. The couple welcomed their first child, Grace Christina Boller, without fanfare on May 11, 2011.
Marriage Vows & Marriage Views
Carrie Prejean and Kyle Boller were married on July 2, 2010 in San Diego. The private wedding followed a tumultuous year for Prejean. In 2009 Carrie Prejean, a California model and beauty queen, won the Miss California title. She was subsequently dethroned following the Miss USA pageant when gay-rights judge Perez Hilton asked her if she supported gay marriage. Prejean replied that she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman. Her opinion angered gay rights proponents, including Miss USA pageant organizer Keith Lewis.
Lawsuits & Scandal
After that the 21-year-old beauty queen and her family were under constant fire and ridicule from the media and various liberal organizations. Prejean did not help matters with her own indiscretions. Photos of a scantily clad teen Carrie Prejean surfaced, followed by some where her vest slipped open revealingly during a photo shoot. Soon the Miss California organization filed a lawsuit against Prejean for for reportedly "failing to perform her duties." The coup de grace for Carrie Prejean was when a tape of her allegedly surfaced reportedly showing somewhat sexual activity. Between the tapes and various lawsuits, Donald Trump flip-flopped on the issue of whether or not Prejean would keep her crown. Ultimately Donald Trump announced he had given Keith Lewis permission to remove Prejean's crown.
In November 2009, Carrie Prejean released a book about her experiences called "Still Standing" on Regnery Publishing. Through the book, Prejean gives readers the story from her perspective about the pageant’s political and manipulative tactics as well as unfair attacks from Hollywood and the media. Prejean also gives readers access to conversations she had with Donald Trump and Sarah Palin as well as other things not covered by the media.
Her "Still Standing" book release was followed by various media appearances, including an appearance on "Larry King Live" where Prejean left the set when King moved from the topic of the book to the topic of the Miss California lawsuit. Prejean, who had come to "Larry King Live" to discuss her book, felt it was inappropriate for King to switch to the more controversial lawsuit.
Bikini Malfunctions & Conservative Calendars
In 2010 Prejean was photographed in Hawaii with then boyfriend Boller, and Prejean was stricken with another careless wardrobe malfunction in her too-skimpy bikini. However, she ended the year not only as a married woman, but also as Miss October in the 2010 Conservative Women's Calendar.
Marriage, Motherhood & Maturity
In the past year, things have apparently quieted down for Carrie Prejean Boller during her pregnancy and the birth of her first child. Marriage, motherhood, and the maturity that age brings have hopefully led to deeper wisdom for Prejean, and her absence from the spotlight and media may finally allow some normalcy for Carrie Prejean, her family, and her new baby daughter.
