I think what you are doing is great...there's one thing that I learned in my blogging niche course I took last year and that is to go for long term growth. Thanks for doing that.
We have had both positive and negative effects. The positive effect has been that some of our high quality content is now ranking well in the serps. The negative effect is that we have seen a slowing of traffic (only 4% growth this month versus 40% in the previous month). Most of this traffic is direct, and I believe is largely due to some anti spam measures that I incorporated a few months ago. Spammers must have finally caught wind of the changes.
With the upcoming changes, I anticipate that we will regain our traffic. Not only will we see a surge from an email I will send out to all of our members, but the new design, new features and a yet-to-be-announced project should keep people coming back!
I have not been focusing on traffic and immediate monetary gain lately because I've been focusing on long term growth and updating Seekyt as a whole. We should be back on track soon.
And, although our Alexa rank has dropped from around 50,000 to around 60,000, we are still seeing growth and are getting more traffic now than we ever have. I don't know if the new traffic just doesn't have the Alexa toolbar installed, or if it just happens that 10,000 other websites are now growing at a faster pace than we are. I will work on improving our authority and rank very soon.

Not necessarily! They should just make sense when linking. For example, if I write an article on "Skateboards" it would probably be quite difficult to include a link to "Knitting patterns for baby girls" - however, if I wrote an article on "Fabrics" or "Hobbies" it WOULD make sense to link to knitting.
Just keep it natural and you'll pretty much know when to link :)

All sites have been somewhat effected including Seekyt. The objective on any site you write-on is just to hang in there and wait out the storm.
What a great question Grantsworld! I think there are advantages to both ways, so I do a bit of both when it suits me!
What works well for me so far is to write on a lot of somewhat interesting topics/niches/products to me, then see if any articles take off after a month or two. When they do, write more related ones, between 3 and 10 more. That has helped me. My best article, that I can figure, has earned $317 so far in it's first 6 months. After it started to earn more than the others, I wrote more on a similar topics with different angles and products and have probably earned another $300 total now from those 10 or so later articles, maybe a bit more. They are not as successful as the first one but are pretty darn good as a group and this way increased my odds of a getting a winner. By having different articles in different areas you can look at the data and see which ones are streaking ahead and which are the duds.
It is all well and good being an authority, but it really helps if it is in a niche that earn more that 6 to 9 cents a click! I know I am impatient and needed to earn quickly so kind of have both sets going on, shotgun approach then narrow down on the winners, and a niche following too which will take a lot longer to pay the bills. I'm interested to read more replies. Good journal post!

Welcome to Seekyt! You will love this site, it's awesome and so easy to get around.
That's great and it's something I am working on doing. When you interlink articles it should all be in the same niche, correct?
I track my Analytics on a per-user basis, so I have statistics for every user on this website, individually.
I can tell you that either way is effective. The top member here gets the majority of their traffic from several articles which are all niche-related to one another. The second top member does not write niche specific content - all of his articles are on random subjects.
As it pertains to making money, it is still considered appropriate to become an authority in a specific niche, but if you are a true authority, usually you'd have your own company or website to back up that claim.
Pertaining to Seekyt, writing many articles on the same niche is useful because you can easily interlink your articles - if you do a lot of link building for one article and get a lot of traffic to it, a link from that article to another one of your articles is very powerful and can result in immediate traffic gains.

Hello Samwelltarly!
Welcome to Seekyt!!
Welcome to Seekyt!!
I agree. "The Unit" was my favorite that was cancelled.
You're welcome. :)
One thing that I very much appreciate here, is the link building strategy, which is set out simply and in stages -provides a plan to work with.
Great article and so true. After 50 if you stop using your limbs it will come back to haunt you.
I had a really nice cast iron set and when I moved I got rid of it.Now I wish I hadn't
Nice article for those who are trying to get started!
There is no way to mass update. A video can be deleted by clicking the "Backspace" button on your keyboard after placing the cursor in front of some text that comes after the video. In other words, you can delete a video the same way you might delete some text.
Not all videos have been affected - it appears that videos which were added more than a few months ago are still supported. If your videos were fine yesterday, they might still be okay today. I'm not sure, to be honest, why the code is selective over videos that have been recently added.

I think the only difference is that InfoBarrel media pages are another place to take advantage of ads if readers will be clicking the images anyway. The bad part is that every single image/media page needs a mini article of its own for relevant ads to show up.
I was here yesterday morning and all was fine, glad a stopped by tonight...I have some time and work on my content. Thanks for keeping us informed. Refresh my memory...how does one delete a video from article????
I think I have close to 50 videos....is there an easy way to update?

Aside from the "Media" pages I'm not quite sure what this article is instructing me to link to.
Here is something you CAN do at Seekyt:
Upload an original image. Once you upload it, you will be given the options to resize it, put borders, etc. In this interface, you will also be given a URL of your image. Copy that URL for a direct link to your image, if you want people to be able to view a full size image, for example. Next, click the "link" tab inside of the image interface and insert the same URL.
Your image will now be clickable and will load up a page with only your image on it. We don't have a way to have "Media" pages, so I don't think I'll be able to do it quite the same way as infobarrel does, complete with special headings and descriptions.
In the future, when I have more time to build something this elaborate, I might consider looking at this again because it's a neat idea.

I like to batch my articles when possible and spread the topic over different sites, depending on how much I have written.
